• Home Compostable with Australian Certified code AS5810 is the gold standard for compostable packaging. It is the highest certification for compostable packaging not only in Australia but also around the world. Home Compostable products mean you can simply dispose by throwing it into your compost in your backyard or just throw it in the red bin for your weekly council bin collection as it will decompose within 180 days.
• Industrial Compostable with Australia Certified code AS4736 is the next best certification with the key difference is that you need compost it in an industrial facility that can take that type of material. Generally it is hard to find for your end customer and therefore most likely it will be thrown in the red bin and may take up to a few years to decompose.

As we have mentioned the Australian Certification AS5810 Home Compostable is the gold standard in Australia but also is the best standard in the world. The European standard equivalent EN13432 is similar but the key difference is that the Aussie AS5810 can be eaten by worms. This particular difference make the AS5810 the most ideal for home composts as you can feed the worms at the same time.
