Water Activated Tape

Water Activated Tape is also known as Kraft Gummed Paper Tape is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to seal boxes and cartons. The packaging tape is made from kraft paper and the adhesive used is biodegradable and made from vegetable starch.

Water Activated Tape is not only Eco-friendly it is also Stronger than plain kraft tapes and plastic tapes as they are more puncture resistant and sticks onto boxes super firm. Once you put it on the carton it would be extremely tough to rip it off without leaving marks making it Tamper Evident.

Best to have a Water Activated Tape dispenser to use this product as you will need to wet the tape with water to activate the adhesive.

How to Use Water Activated Tape?

You will need a Water Activated Tape Dispenser in order to use Water Activated Tape. As you will need to run the tape through the dispenser in order to wet the tape with water. See the below photo for a demonstration. We currently don't sell this type of dispenser but you can easily buy it from Officeworks.

How is Water Activated Tape Better than other packing tapes?

We at Awesome Pack have summarised the benefits of using Water Activated Tape compared to other packing tapes in the Australian Market:

  • Eco-Friendly - the tape is made from kraft tape and the adhesive is made from non-toxic biodegradable vegetable starch
  • Super Strong - much stronger than plain kraft tapes or plastic tapes as the bond it creates with the box is extremely firm unlike other packing tapes which can puncture under pressure
  • Tamper Evident - once you have applied on the carton and if you try to take the water activated tape off it will no longer be able to stick back onto the box. So any tamper of the box would be very obvious.
